January

23-27 January – S3 exam period.

30 January – Approvals for any unit amendments for S1 should be completed in the MQCMS.

February

6 February Unit guides due to be published.

6 FebruaryiLearn Drop-in Clinics commence providing personalised support for your iLearn queries. 

9 February – iLearn Insights Pecha Kucha event – Get a refresher on the key features of iLearn Insights and learn about the latest upgrades to this student engagement reporting tool. Register.

12 February – Closing date for PACE Prizes applications to recognise students who completed a PACE work integrated learning activity in 2022 as well as staff and industry partners who made an outstanding contribution to the PACE experience.

13 February – First Senate Learning & Teaching Committee (SLTC) meeting for 2023 (an extraordinary planning meeting for 2023 SLTC activities).

13 – 17 FebruaryNew student orientation and Kickstart program for new commencing S1 students.

14 February – Workshop: iLearn basics for Unit Convenors.

14 February – First meeting of Academic Standards and Quality Committee (ASQC) for 2023.

15 February – Workshop: Echo360 Universal Capture.

20 February – Session 1 commences.

21 February – Teaching & Leadership Community of Practice 1st meeting of the year. Be part of this community to support good practice in learning and teaching across MQ.

21 February – Workshop: Teaching in iLearn for Tutors.

27 February – WriteWISE consultation service commences for S1 – a student-led writing service available to all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students providing academic writing support and advice on effective study strategies. Let your students know about this service by providing them with this link.

27 February – Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), formerly known as PAL, will commence in collaboration with FSE and FMHHS in selected units! Let your students know about this service by providing them with this link.

28 February – Academic Senate 1st meeting of 2023.

28 February – Due date for MQCMS approval of amendments to 2024 Courses where you are changing things like availability, mode of offering, admission requirements, IELTS score etc. Liaise with your Faculty to determine your required submission date in the CMS.

1CC technology exploration sessions – get familiar with the technology for teaching in 1CC Central courtyard (dates TBC). See also this Guide to 1CC technology for teaching a f2f or blended class.

March

1 March – Learning and Teaching Podcast club starts up for 2023 – like a book club but for podcasts. Join our monthly discussions.

1 March – Contemporary Approaches to University Teaching MOOC opens for S1 enrolment. More details coming soon in TECHE.

1 March – Workshop: iLearn Gradebook.

6 March – Senate Learning & Teaching Committee (SLTC) meeting.

7 March – Workshop: iLearn Gradebook.

7 March – Careers and employability programs for students commence. A series of workshops for students covering skills development, transition to work and career exploration. Encourage your students to participate by providing them with this link.

14 March – Academic Standards and Quality Committee (ASQC) meeting.

15 March – Workshop: Feedback Studio and Rubrics.

21 March – Workshop: Feedback Studio and Rubrics.

28 March – Academic Senate meeting.

Open for Observation program. Look out for a TECHE post during March where you can sign up to open your class for others to observe.

April

1 April – Due date for MQCMS approval of amendments to Session 2 2023 offered units where you are changing things like unit description, learning outcomes, assessments, learning activities. Liaise with your Faculty to determine your required submission date in the CMS.

10-21 April – Mid-session break.

12-21 AprilBeginning to Teach: a program ideal for those new to teaching at a university.

27 April – Jobs Happy Hour: An employment focused event for students (and staff) to network with industry representatives (2-4pm on campus).

April is Course Annual Health Check month.

Educating for Success forum (date TBC).

Observe teaching in action as part of the Open for Observation program – details coming soon to TECHE.

Vice Chancellor’s Learning & Teaching Award nominations and applications open.

Award application writing workshops for staff interested in applying for a Vice Chancellor’s Learning & Teaching Award (dates TBC).

May

8-28 May Learner Evaluation of Unit (LEU) S1 Survey period. Surveys are sent to students on 8th May and it’s open for 21 days.

30 May – Academic Senate meeting.

PACE Prize winners for 2022 are announced.

Student nominations for Vice-Chancellor’s Learning and Teaching Awards close.

June

1 June – Due date for MQCMS approval of amendments to (i) 2024 offered units where you are changing things like Unit name, code, grading, or making requisites more restrictive AND (ii) 2024 Courses where you are changing things like Course name, level, credit points, duration, structure etc. Liaise with your Faculty to determine your required submission date in the CMS.

2 June – Last day of Session 1.

5 – 23 June – Session 1 exam period.

6 June – Academic Standards and Quality Committee (ASQC) meeting.

19 June – Senate Learning & Teaching Committee (SLTC) meeting.

Award writing workshop – for Student Nominated awards (date TBC).

July

3 July – Approvals for any unit amendments for S2 should be completed in the MQCMS (These will need to have been submitted through your Faculty process prior to this date).

6 July LEU S1 survey results emailed to Unit Convenors.

10 July – Unit Guides for S2 due to be published.

11 July – Academic Standards and Quality Committee (ASQC) meeting.

24 July – Session 2 commences.

25 July – Academic Senate meeting.

Applications close for Vice Chancellor’s Learning & Teaching awards (Date TBC).

Upgrade to the iLearn system – there will be some changes to the functionality, look and feel of iLearn. Further details will be provided closer to the time.

August

28 August – Academic Senate meeting.

Open for observation – Session 2 classes open. Look out for details on TECHE.

September

1 September – Due date for MQCMS approval of amendments to (i) Session 1 2024 offered units where you are changing things like unit offerings and share teaching for 2024 AND (ii) 2024 Courses where you are changing things like Course Director, overview/aims, course learning outcomes, mapping etc. Liaise with your Faculty to determine your required submission date in the CMS.

11 September – Senate Learning & Teaching Committee (SLTC) meeting.

12 September – Academic Standards and Quality Committee (ASQC) meeting.

12-24 September – Mid-session break.

PACE Prize applications open for 2023.

October

3 October – Academic Standards and Quality Committee (ASQC) meeting.
