12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

12 Second Way (12SW) Room 316

This PACE CoP workshop will be led by Nicola Myton from the PACE Research & Evaluation Team. Nicola will provide an overview of the new National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, and look at its implications for PACE activities and PACE-related research.

The NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research was updated in 2018. This statement is

“a series of guidelines made in accordance with the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992 (Cth).”

In this PACE Community of Practice session, an overview of the new National Statement and its seven elements will be provided. The main changes that have been made will be highlighted, with a particular focus on how these relate to PACE activities and PACE-related research. Case studies involving PACE activities and PACE-related research by PACE academics will be discussed to explore using principles-based thinking to guide decision-making about when ethics applications are needed.

Please bring your lunch and come along to connect with colleagues, participate in the discussion, and support the connection of research and teaching in PACE.
