Here are some ideas to guide your progress through the Curriculum and Assessment domain of the Professional Learning and Capability Enhancement (PLaCE) Framework:
- Design curriculum that is evidence-based, inclusive and embeds employability skills

Expand your knowledge of Curriculum and Assessment:
Read: | How to align assessment through a program approach. This 28pp MQ PDF resource considers assessment at the class, unit and program (course) level. |
Consider: | A course level approach to curriculum design using the Design, Develop, Implement methodology. (iLearn site of resources) |
Review: | Check if your rubrics are designed in line with best practice (1 page PDF Quick Guide) |
Understand: | Familiarise yourself with Macquarie’s Curriculum Management System (MQCMS) – what it’s used for, information flows, approval process and making unit and course amendments. (1-hour module on Workday) |
Participate: | Be on the team to design or develop a course or be part of a course reaccreditation process. Review the resources on the Course Reaccreditation SharePoint. |
Explore: | There’s more resources in these Learning and Teaching Quick Guides (series of 1-page PDFs) including constructive alignment, rubric design, feedback methods and strategies, and unit assessment. |
Try: | Enrol in the Feedback for Student Learning self-paced module and pick the ‘Convenor’ pathway and choose some new feedback strategies to expand your toolkit this session. (20-60 minute module in iLearn). |
