Macquarie University is participating in the 2021 Student Experience Survey (SES) from 29 July to 29 August. The results of this survey will help Macquarie University and the government to improve the student experience.

As the usual campus-based student communications channels are not available to us right now, we need your assistance (in particular, the help of unit convenors and teaching staff) to promote the 2021 SES.

What do you need to do?

Encourage your students to complete the survey by adding one of the SES Survey slides at the end of your class. Students can access the 2021 SES through their student email.   Please also emphasis that feedback from the students is used to improve the quality of the student experience at Macquarie University as shown in the Highlights from the 2020 SES and initiatives taken by Macquarie University.

What is the SES?

The SES is a national survey being conducted by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) as part of Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT).

The SES questionnaire comprises a battery of attitudinal questions regarding teaching quality, skills development, learner engagement, learning resources and student support.

Use your OneID to log in to find a summary report from the 2019-2020 SES.

The DESE have engaged the Social Research Centre to work with institutions to administer the 2021 SES.

How are students selected?

A random sample of 18,612 current first and final year undergraduate students and 6,014 postgraduate (coursework) students were selected to participate in the survey and will receive invitations throughout August to complete the online SES survey.

Will my student(s) be identified?

All responses are confidential and no personal information will be linked to students’ responses. Questions from students regarding the administration of the SES should be directed to the Social Research Centre on 03 9236 8500 or via qilt@srcentre.com.au

Further questions?

Refer to the SES websites or contact Ms Chandrama Acharya on 02 9850 4790 or email at analytics.request@mq.edu.au.
