The Co-op Bookshop on campus will close on 20 March. This is very sad news for the university community and for bookshops in general. The Co-op Bookshop was bought by online bookstore Booktopia in January of this year after the Co-op Bookshop went into administration in late 2019.

Students will now need to be directed to the Booktopia website and purchase their textbooks online effective immediately for Semester 1 2020. Booktopia have taken over the Macquarie University text lists that the Co-op Bookshop managed.

Advice for Academic Staff

Academics who have any further enquiries regarding text lists should contact academicbooks@booktopia.com.au

Academics should update their Unit Guides and iLearn sites with the above information and direct students to purchase their text books online from www.booktopia.com.au/coop

Advice for Students

Students should purchase their S1 2020 from the www.booktopia.com.au/coop website going forward.

The stock in the bookshop on campus (located in MUSE level 3, 18 Wally’s Walk) will be heavily discounted until it closes.

We are looking into alternative solutions for the sale of products such as lab coats, protective glasses and student equipment the bookshop sells. The same applies for the sale of hard copy course notes. We will keep staff updated once a solution has been found.

Staff who have any further enquiries should contact Phillip Raponi, Manager, Office of PVC (Learning and Teaching) Phillip.raponi@mq.edu.au in the first instance.
