Professor Dominique Parrish (Pro Vice-Chancellor, Learning and Teaching) is our guest at the November meeting of the Teaching & Leadership Community of Practice speaking on the topic of Emotionally Intelligent Leadership in Higher Education. Any interested MQ staff are welcome to attend this meeting (via Zoom).

Abstract: Research has found that emotional intelligence is critical for higher education leadership, that higher education leaders who possess emotional intelligence are more effective and that emotional intelligence is a significant predictor of higher education leadership success. Despite this increasing acknowledgement of its importance, emotional intelligence is reportedly still undervalued by institutions and lacking in many HE leaders. This presentation will share research findings identifying emotional intelligence leadership capabilities deemed most pertinent for higher education leaders in formal roles. An inventory of emotionally intelligent leadership capabilities posited as critical to successful and effective higher education leadership in formal roles (e.g. Vice Chancellor, Head of School or Department) will be presented along with those capabilities perceived to be in most need of development in each role category.

Register below and you will be sent the Zoom link to join the meeting.
