What do students want from their higher education experience? How can we best support student success? Associate Professor Jana Bowden from Macquarie Business School discusses the nature of student engagement and how this determines student success. Drawing broadly upon the findings of a research project conducted with over 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, Jana discusses four key pillars of student engagement – intellectual, social, emotional and participatory engagement and the way in which these can and be built into the fabric of the tertiary experience.
