Changes to the L&T award scheme this year meant a shorter timeframe, but it was highly successful – resulting in a 5-fold increase in applications compared to 2016-2018. These changes were outlined in an earlier article, with a dedicated Sessional Staff Award and introduction of peer nominations being key features.

With such a large number of applications, what’s happening from here?

Round 1: Outcome

  • The Office of PVC L&T will formally advise all unsuccessful applicants about faculty assessment outcomes by 15th August
  • The Office of PVC L&T will formally advise successful applicants on their progress through to Award category ‘Finalists’ by 16th August

Round 2: Winners selected from Finalists

  • A Central Assessment Panel will meet for Winner selection process starting 27th Aug
  • Award Recipients will be announced at the Academic Award Ceremony

Finalist Media Campaign

  • All award finalists to be profiled and celebrated in This Week, Faculty newsletters, Instagram, Twitter, MQ website
  • Campaign to run September to November
  • All Finalists encouraged to attend Award Ceremony

Academic Staff Award Ceremony – 18th November

  • Open to everyone, including students
  • Hosted by the Vice Chancellor Prof S. Bruce Dowton
  • VC will announce the award recipients for each category (including DVCR – Research Excellence Awards)
  • Event Registration in September, with Ceremony scheduled for 18th November at 3pm
