Academic and professional staff NTEU members are invited to participate in a monthly reading and discussion group, focussing on critical literature on the Higher Education sector. We will begin with Professor Raewyn Connell’s recent book The Good University: What universities actually do and why it’s time for radical change

  • What changes have taken place in universities and how are these changes affecting the quality of life of those who work at study at them?
  • What do we value most about working at a university, and how can we recover what we value from all the other #$@&# that seems to come along for the ride?
  • How can we support each other to challenge toxic workplace cultures and to promote equitable and safe workplaces within the university?

It is hoped that members with a wide range of experience of the university will participate, to broaden and enrich discussion.Together we can find ways to analyse the university’s problems and cultivate collectively the hope and resources to change what it is in our power to change.

Those interested in participating should contact Joanne Faulkner at joanne.faulkner@mq.edu.au by 28 June.
