The aim of this 3-hour workshop is to enhance your video storytelling skills and introduce you to some key Adobe apps. Come ready to be creative, to learn new skills and ways to communicate (your research, your teaching content and your personal stories) through video.

This workshop, run by Dr Tim Kitchen (Adobe’s Senior Education Specialist for APAC) will start with a range of simple video capture and editing techniques with Adobe’s mobile apps and then will introduce participants to other Adobe apps that can be used to tell research stories or to create media for teaching.

By the end of this workshop, you will walk away with a whole lot of new and enhanced communication techniques and be provided with a wide range of resources to help foster future development in this area.

Techniques & concepts covered will include:

  • Quality framing
  • Great audio
  • Best lighting
  • Working with a camera crew (can be other colleagues and students)
  • Importing footage & other assets
  • Simple edits
  • Transitions
  • Adding voice overs
  • Adding titles
  • Controlling audio
  • Chroma keying
  • Exporting for various media
  • and will introduce participants to:
  • Character Animator
  • Classroom Exercises using Premier Clip
  • Adobe Spark
  • Adobe Education Exchange – Designing Creativity in the Higher Ed Curriculum

If you don’t already have an Adobe license, you won’t need one for this workshop, and you can speak to your faculty support staff after the workshop if you wish to get one. The Learning Innovation Hub has a professional media suite complete with multiple licenses and an extensive array of media equipment if you want to experiment and use the software after the workshop.

Prior to the workshop, if you have a iPhone or iPad, upload the free Adobe Spark Video & Adobe Premiere Clip apps. If you have an Android tablet or Android Phone, install Adobe Premiere Clip.
