Since the start of session, a number of students have come wandering through our corridors wearing an anxious ‘lost’ expression, due to the building name changes across campus (outlined in an earlier Teche post).
While asking for directions can be a great ice breaker and bring the community together, it sometimes felt like the blind leading the blind, particularly in our building. It wasn’t just newcomers that couldn’t get their bearings – it is arguably even more difficult for those of us accustomed to the ‘old’ building naming system to transition to the ‘new’.
Knowledge is power, so I wanted to share a couple of helpful resources to aid the transition and your navigation around MQ:
-
This simple web based building converter was developed by an industrious staff member. Enter the old or new reference and it converts it for you in a flash!
- Referring to an older version of the Campus Map (campus_map (with OLD numbers included)) may make finding locations easier.
- Here’s a simple table with the locations side by side.
- This room profile page lists all building and room numbers, which link to their individual reference pages (with timetable and facility information).
- The Rooms and Facilities Guide page, has all the addresses updated, and lists the AV and facility information for each room.
Any tips you’d like to share for navigating campus?
